Transformed my Life and Career
The gifts of my LIOS journey included transitioning my life and career in important ways.
My first wife passed away halfway through the program and I found enormous support from my LIOS community during this difficult time. Upon graduation, I launched my consulting company and for the past 15 years, I’ve served hundreds of clients primarily as a leadership coach. This is work I find truly rewarding and, after various other careers, I feel I have found my calling.
LIOS was instrumental in my growth as a professional coach and consultant as well as a man.

More Than Tools and Technique
At LIOS I gained great knowledge and practical tools. But it was the deep self-awareness and the ability to use self as a vehicle to empower others to succeed that stands out in my experience.

Clinical Presence
After finishing my degree at LIOS, I wasn’t done with school. I took all that I learned and enrolled at the University of North Dakota in their Counseling Psychology PhD program.
From Buber to Maslow and many more – I used my LIOS knowledge to help inform my clinical presence. I finished my PhD in 2011 and I still think very fondly of my time at LIOS.
It truly changed my life.

The Best Version of Me
The greatest gifts LIOS gave me were self-awareness and self-love. My experience at LIOS changed my life forever by giving me the chance to see myself through different lenses and to apply greater self-awareness into both my professional and personal life experiences.
It has enabled me to be the best version of myself, and I am forever grateful for the learning.

Powerful Emotional Intelligence in Action
My teaching has been extensively influenced by the LIOS curriculum.
Since adding “Leading with Emotional Intelligence” to my teaching repertoire in 2003, I have been teaching with graduates of the LIOS program, as well as colleagues who were trained by those LIOS graduates.
The utilization of Skill Group programming (the T-Group) has been foundational in our EQ courses. Virtually all of our T-group facilitators were trained in the LIOS method, either directly or by others who are experienced T-Group leaders who were educated at LIOS.
I am deeply indebted to the creativity and curriculum innovations that LIOS has brought to this teaching and training milieu.
