Founded by Robert Crosby as a consulting and training organization in Spokane, Washington.
Ed Lindaman, President of Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington invited LIOS to become a Masters of Arts in Applied Behavioral Sciences. LIOS accepted and became a contract program at Whitworth. Joining Robert Crosby as the first faculty were Ron Short and John Scherer.
Affiliated with City University of Seattle. In 1984 offered two tracks: systems counseling, and managing and consulting in human systems.
Affiliated with Bastyr University.
Corporate Graduate Program was conceived and championed by Don Simonic of Alcoa and approved by then president of LIOS Brenda Kerr.
Corporate graduate program closed.
Moved to Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center’s facility in Kirkland, WA.
LIOS closed.
Chris Crosby began a conversation with Dr. Nathan Long, President of Saybrook Graduate School about acquiring the rights and endorsements to restart LIOS.
LIOS reboot! Received recognition as an independent school offering a certificate program in in Leadership and Organization Development (grounded in the Applied Behavioral Sciences) and began the process of creating a startup independent school. In November, LIOS incorporated as a nonprofit in Washington State.
Current state: LIOS has a Master of Science in Leadership and Organization Development pending (grounded in the Applied Behavioral Sciences) which was submitted on May 11th, 2022. In October we achieved 501c3 nonprofit status.
In 2023 the first ABS certificate program cohorts began in March. We are now have 22 graduates of the certificate program and growing.
