LIOS History

1969

Founded by Robert Crosby as a consulting and training organization in Spokane, Washington.

1973

Ed Lindaman, President of Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington invited LIOS to become a Masters of Arts in Applied Behavioral Sciences. LIOS accepted and became a contract program at Whitworth. Joining Robert Crosby as the first faculty were Ron Short and John Scherer. 

1981

Affiliated with City University of Seattle. In 1984 offered two tracks: systems counseling, and managing and consulting in human systems.

1992

Affiliated with Bastyr University.

Corporate Graduate Program was conceived and championed by Don Simonic of Alcoa and approved by then president of LIOS Brenda Kerr. 

2005

Corporate graduate program closed.

2009

Moved to Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center’s facility in Kirkland, WA.

2018

LIOS closed.

2019

Chris Crosby began a conversation with Dr. Nathan Long, President of Saybrook Graduate School about acquiring  the rights and endorsements to restart LIOS.

2021

LIOS reboot! Received recognition as an independent school offering a certificate program in Applied Behavioral Sciences and began the process of creating a startup independent school. In November, LIOS incorporated as a nonprofit in Washington State. 

2022

Current state: LIOS has a Masters degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences pending (Submitted on May 11th), achieved 501c3 nonprofit status, and the first ABS certificate program cohort begins March 12th 2023.

2024

Submit application for accreditation through the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities which will authorize LIOS to offer Federal Financial Aid.
