Why Should You Support LIOS?

Today’s polarized socio-political climate makes the need for civil discourse and collaborative leadership more critical than ever before. Leadership Institute of Seattle is committed to creating superlative leaders able to meet this need.

LIOS instructors are dedicated to teaching every student how to generate positive social change, whatever his or her profession. We understand leadership requires more than intellect and skills. Leadership is a way of being, based on a self-awareness that enables people to see themselves within the social context of their world, and to recognize where and what changes are needed. LIOS graduates understand that sustainable change must be a collective experience.

As a member of the LIOS community, you can help us in our efforts to export LIOS’ unique brand of leadership into the world. Please consider the benefits you have garnered from your learning experience at LIOS, and give your support to this important educational institution.

How Can You Support LIOS?

As an alumnus of LIOS, your most valuable gift to the Institute is your willingness to share with friends and colleagues the uniquely life-changing educational experience you encountered during your graduate or training program. A high percentage of new students at LIOS report that they learned about our school from enthusiastic graduates.

Fundraising is critical to the health of all academic institutions. The LIOS Annual Campaign runs from July 1 to June 30 each year. You can also make a tax-deductible gift to LIOS, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. We would like to express our gratitude to our 2008 donors.

There are many ways to support the Institute:

  • General Contribution - Support the overall development of LIOS through cash donations, corporate matching funds, and payroll deductions.
  • ClassMate Lead - Volunteer to be a ClassMate Lead.
  • Scholarship Fund - Contribute financial aid to students in need of financial assistance.
  • Professional Development - Assist faculty and staff in attending workshops and conferences in their field.
  • Sponsor a Special Event - Help LIOS sponsor a lecture, cultural event or exhibit.
  • Academic Program - Make a monetary donation to support a specific academic program or faculty research effort.
  • Stock and Bequest - Donate a gift through stocks, wills or trusts to sustain the mission of LIOS.
  • Endowment - Families and individuals can make a lasting endowment in the name of a loved one or a respected member of the community.
  • Creative gift-giving - Offer your professional expertise, equipment, software, or host an opening night.
